Dating back to 2006, the Nike Zoom Vomero line began as a running-focused silhouette that transitioned from the track to the sidewalks in the eyes of consumers. The Swoosh embraced this switch with the 2010 iteration of the model, the Nike Zoom Vomero 5, by producing colorways that took on earth tones and simple color schemes (as opposed to vibrant and colorful approaches often found on running sneakers). A few years removed from the lineup, Nike is set to bring back the model in a slew of colorways come 2023, including “Oatmeal,” “Vast Grey,” and “Wheat Grass.” Now, sticking to these neutral tones, a “Light Iron Ore” colorway has just appeared.
Keeping the early 2010s design alive, the sneaker features an array of panels and materials, coming constructed out of sandwich mesh, suede, leather, and TPU overlays. On the toe, New Balance-esque suede overlays create circular mesh panels, coming in a darker grey and light grey respectively. Sitting on the toe cap, vamp, eyestays, and heel overlay is a light iron ore leather that features grey streaks on the eyestays and lighter grey hits on the toecap. The mesh found on the base continues across the profile but comes covered by a TPU cage, host to a grey Nike Swoosh. Back on the heel, more TPU is found in a lattice structure-like design that takes on a greenish-tint, contrasting the grey leather overlay and silver embroidered Swoosh above. Rounding out the design is a multi-layered sole unit, featuring Cushlon and Nike Zoom cushioning systems, that are dressed in white, grey, and light iron ore.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Light Iron Ore is set to release in January 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $175.
