With the Nike Dunk hype slowing down compared to years prior, Nike needed to find a silhouette that could replace the ever-popular low-top model. Step in the Nike Zoom Vomero 5. Though it hasn’t caught the same level of demand as the Peter Moore-designed silhouette, Nike’s revival of the early 2010s runner has seen a slew of colorways fly off the shelves, and more renditions are on the way. Adding to its list of upcoming releases, Nike is seemingly inspired by the LA Lakers on the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Pure Platinum Laser Orange.”
Covered in its usual array of materials, including mesh, TPU, and leather, the silhouette is dressed in a greyscale shade of pure platinum and metallic silver. These shades appears on the leather overlays around the mudguard, toe, vamp, and eyestays, while pure platinum mesh acts as the base layer. Tonal laces continue this shade, as does the tongue with the Zoom Vomero 5-branded tag above dressed in laser orange. Other pops of color are spotted with a midnight navy sockliner that pairs well with the laser orange Swoosh to give off major LA Lakers vibes. Completing the upper are the TPU overlays on the midfoot and heel, while the design is finished by a creamy Zoom Vomero 5 midsole paired with a midnight navy rubber outsole.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Pure Platinum Laser Orange will be released in Fall 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
