Nike’s foray into the mesh runner world saw them revive a sneaker once touted for its performance features: the Nike Zoom Vomero 5. Since seeing a new life in recent years, the Vomero 5 has been given dozens and dozens of makeovers. However, Nike is leaning into a utilitarian design language with the all-new Vomero 5 Roam, first appearing in the Flax colorway and then the Summit White Light Bone iteration. Another two-tone variant has emerged, this time in Black Light Silver.
Beefing up the durability of the Vomero 5, the Roam iteration sees a split design upper with the bottom half coming in a light silver rubber that wraps from the toe, across the midfoot, and over to the heel. Above this sits a black ripstop base for a water-resistant finish and a fused midfoot overlay for added protection. A new lacing setup is present, such as an adjustable lace toggle and lace hook control, allowing quick and easy adjustments on the fly. Inside, the padding is increased for more comfort, while the pull tab on the heel comes with a reflective finish. Completing the upper is the Vomero-branded pull tab on the tongue and the rubber toecap for enhanced protection. All this sits atop a light silver foam midsole with Zoom Air and Cushlon 3.0 foam paired with an all-terrain rubber outsole in an orange, silver, and jade horizon color combo.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Roam Black Light Silver releases on November 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $180.
