Nike has succeeded in the mesh runner category with the revival of the Zoom Vomero 5, which has become one of the premier sneakers from Nike Sportswear. While colorways are dropping left and right, including in upcoming iterations like Celestial Gold, Burgundy Crush Midnight Navy, and Metallic Silver Black, the model is now undergoing a rugged, utilitarian makeover with the Vomero 5 Roam.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Roam features a range of functional upgrades and aesthetic enhancements. The upper is reinforced with a molded rubber mudguard that wraps around the entire base from the toe to the heel, offering added protection against the elements. The midfoot panel swaps out the usual mesh and TPU for a more robust leather overlay. At the same time, water-repellent textiles make up the base layer, ensuring the sneaker remains functional in wet conditions.
Suede eyelets and an upgraded lacing system, which includes an adjustable lace toggle and lace control hook, make the shoe easy to tighten or loosen on the fly. Nike has improved the internal construction for enhanced comfort, making this Vomero 5 perfect for more extended wear. Reflective details on the heel pull tab add visibility in low-light conditions, aligning with the Roam’s outdoor-ready aesthetic. As for its color palette, it shows a two-tone flax and khaki finish contrasted with black, gold, racer blue, and metallic silver hits.
Underfoot, the midsole has been redesigned to include an amplified crash pad in the heel, dual Air Zoom bags for responsive cushioning, and a Cushlon 3.0 foam layer that spans the entire length of the footbed. The outsole has also been optimized for all-terrain traction, featuring an aggressive tread pattern that grips pavement and trail surfaces. A rubber toe wrap is included to shield against scuffs and impacts, rounding out this utility-focused design.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Roam Flax W was originally released on October 7, 2024. It is set to restock on November 1 through Nike and select online and in-store retailers.
