Chunky dad-shoe runners have made a massive resurgence in the sneaker and fashion world as brands from across the industry have introduced their own versions, and brought back archival models, that fit into this trend. For Nike, the Zoom Vomero lineup has always been a runner-focused line, however, the Zoom Vomero 5 slides right into the New Balance-Esque aesthetic that is popular at the moment with the model on track for a major comeback in 2023 and beyond. After its remixed “Timeless” rendition that sees the model take on “Panda” Dunk vibes, the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 has just appeared in a “Velvet Brown” colorway.
Covered in tonal shades of brown, black, and red, the silhouette keeps its multi-layered and multi-material construction we’ve come to know and love. Along the toe cap we see patent leather in black reinforce this portion of the sneaker while a chocolate brown mesh on the toebox hosts brown suede overlays that remind one of a 99X model from NB. More black patent leather lands near the vamp and eyestays while the lace set takes on a two-tone chocolate brown and red finish, matching the tongue tag above. Nike branding on the midfoot comes in the form of a chocolate brown Swoosh with red trimming its edges, matching the partially covered red underlay below. TPU in a geometric design takes over the heel counter in a grey finish while the design is completed by a grey Zoom Air cushioned midsole paired with a white rubber outsole.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Velvet Brown is set to release in 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
