Drake’s work in the footwear world may have begun with Jordan Brand (and almost transitioned to adidas), but he now works with Nike Sportswear through his NOCTA sub-label. This creative partnership between Drake and Nike has taken an archival approach to footwear, as we’ve seen Drizzy take inspiration from the Air Terra to create the Hot Step Air Terra and the Nike Zoom Flight 95 for the NOCTA Glide. Now, NOCTA will revive an oft-forgotten silhouette from Nike’s archives — the Nike Air Zoom Drive.
Initially launched in 1999, the Air Zoom Drive was designed by Tinker Hatfield during the Air Presto’s development. As a predecessor of the Air Presto, the model featured a more traditional collar and construction but contained stretchy mesh for a “t-shirt” fit. While this silhouette eventually faded, Drake’s NOCTA will give the Nike Air Zoom Drive SP a clean “White” makeover. Just like the "Black" colorway, the sneaker features a leather, mesh, and ripstop upper with NOCTA branding present. This is featured on the pull tab and heel. Underfoot, the sole unit comes in white with the outsole coming in black and orange.
The NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive SP White will release February 22, 2024, through Nike, NOCTA, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $165.
