Streetwear brand OBEY, founded by iconic artist Shepard Fairey in 2001, is rooted in culture and activism, channeling bold graphics and political messaging into its designs. Although the brand is not at the heights it was in the early 2010s, the label is teaming up with Reebok to launch a collection of footwear and apparel.
Three updated Reebok models are at the collection's heart, each featuring OBEY's signature design elements. The OBEY x Reebok BB4500 reimagines a classic basketball silhouette with a premium burgundy leather upper, suede accents, and custom OBEY detailing on the insole and hangtag. For fans of tennis-inspired styles, the OBEY x Reebok Club C 85 delivers a dark green premium leather design with metal lace eyelets and OBEY's logo prominently displayed in the window box. Finally, the OBEY x Reebok Premier Road Plus VI offers a retro runner aesthetic, crafted with a mesh textile base, suede overlays, and DMXRide cushioning for all-day comfort. This pair's speed lacing and rubber toe cap underscore the thoughtful integration of form and function.
The footwear collection is complemented by a robust apparel lineup, including the OBEY x Reebok Vector Jacket, Nylon Pant, Graphic Tee, Zip Hoodie, Soccer Jersey, and Carpenter Short. Each piece extends the collaborative effort, combining Reebok’s athletic heritage with OBEY’s focus on bold self-expression and community-driven design.
“Artistically, Reebok's classic silhouettes provide an ideal canvas for OBEY’s design perspective and graphic language,” commented Steve Ternosky, CEO of OBEY. “The end result is a true collaborative effort. Bringing the strengths and perspectives of both brands to build something new. We looked to take a thoughtful approach in updating timeless styles in a way that feels relevant and honors the legacy and deep cultural impact of our brands. We’re about variety and experience, encouraging individuals to reflect on their surroundings and question their purpose – the medium is the message.’”
The OBEY x Reebok Collection will release on December 4, 2024, through Reebok and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100 for the Club C 85, $110 for the BB4500, and $120 for the Premier Road Plus VI.
