Considering its long-standing history of remaining exclusive to the upper echelon of society, luxury fashion houses bringing their high taste levels to more “mainstream” brands have been quite the sight to see. With the likes of Louis Vuitton working with Supreme and Nike or Balenciaga bringing avant-garde looks to the Gap and adidas, high fashion has gracefully accepted the influence of streetwear and sportswear into not only these collaborative efforts but even their mainline collections. Now the UK-based skate/streetwear brand Palace has linked up with one of the most revered fashion houses, Gucci.
Though as of this writing we don’t have an official announcement or look from either brand, early images showcase a selection of what is to come from Palace x Gucci, including co-branded Gucci Slides. The famous design of all-black slides with Gucci’s green and red stripes comes with “Palace” written atop the forefoot strap, split between the left and right slides while a hoodie is seen with the triangle Palace logo covered in double-G monogram print and “Gucci” text. On top of this, jeans covered in monogram print as well as a selection of co-branded soccer jerseys appear to be a part of the upcoming collection.
According to HORHEAD_Sales on Twitter, we can expect to see skate decks, accessories (such as handbags), and even a motorcycle with a custom livery designed by both brands. He also mentioned that "There's 20-25 items from the Gucci Palace collection that Gucci is making less than 10 pieces of... LIMITED AF," one of which is a "Safe Box" that will come with a numbered gold plaque.
The Palace x Gucci collection is set to release on October 21st, 2022 exclusively through Vault Gucci online and in-store. Select Palace locations will also host pop-ups in person as well. Pricing information is currently unavailable, but expect to pay the premium price tag Gucci products carry.
