Amsterdam-based retailer Patta is one of the most renowned retailers in the world. Since opening their doors in 2004, they have always been at the forefront of the latest and greatest footwear and streetwear, carrying various brands like Nike and making a mark for their imprint. In 2024, Patta is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in the footwear space, which is not easy. With the worldwide sneaker market still in a downward spiral, many retailers have been forced to close up shop over the past few years, including retail juggernaut Eastbay and UK-based retailer wellgosh.
With Nike reviving several classics such as the DQM x Nike Air Max 90 Bacon, HUF x Nike Air Max 1 Pack, and upcoming Stash x Nike Air Max 95 re-release, the Swoosh has rejoined forces with Patta to bring a new twist to their classic Air Max 1 Chlorophyll collab from 2009. Patta co-founders Gee Schmidt and Edson Sabajo recently took to their respective Instagram accounts to co-share a teaser of what's to come. This first look included both wearing a remake of their original Chlorophyll Air Max 1, with updated materials, alongside Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems.
The pair comes almost identical to the original, with the designers even reusing the same fabric from the OG '09 pair. Colorblocking is also the same as the original with chlorophyll and matte silver hits across the design, though some changes are made to branding. While the original featured a Dutch Guilder design on the insole, this one swaps it out for a €20 bill. Custom packaging also nods to the the 20th anniversary of Patta.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 Chlorophyll 20th Anniversary will release on September 13, 2024, exclusively through Patta online and via chapter stores. Early in-store access will be available a day earlier in Lagos, Nigeria. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $160.
