What’s more classic than the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star? Chucks have been footwear staples for over one hundred years. Now, Converse has teamed up with Pokemon to celebrate their quarter century milestone in 2021. The two brand juggernauts have cooked up a 25th Anniversary Capsule that features footwear, apparel and accessories.
Representing the footwear pair of the collection is the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star. It comes in two high and two low top iterations. The Converse CTAS Hi’s come in “Poke Ball” and “First Partners” themed editions. The “First Partners” pair keeps it classic in black and white. Featuring a traditional black-based canvas upper with white accents. Starter Pokemon Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle wrap around the lateral heel while Jigglypuff floats solo on the medial. Classic Pokemon branding on the tongue along with a poke ball top eye stay finish this pair off.
The “Poke Ball” pair comes dressed in white with an all-over graphic featuring the aforementioned Pokemon with the addition of Meowth throughout. The classic poke ball is found embedded on the lateral sides of the ankle. Red accents the lining while another poke ball is found on the classic branding on the back sole. Rounding out the collection are “Pikachu” and “Jigglypuff” editions of the CTAS Ox.
The Pikachu pair mimics the electric-type with an all-yellow design which includes a back heel pull tab representing his tail and his face on the rubber toe cap with ears extending off the top. The Jigglypuff pair is decked out in all-pink with the fairy-type adorning the heel and musical notes wrapping around midsole. A velcro strap with elastic laces is found on Pikachu’s pair while two Velcro straps sans laces are on Jigglypuff’s.
