Salomon, celebrated initially by outdoor enthusiasts for its high-performance gear, has successfully bridged the gap to the fashion world, securing its place as a favored brand among sneakerheads and trendsetters. This transformation is partly due to its innovative collaborations that fuse functionality with contemporary design. The latest in this series of partnerships is Salomon's third collaboration with RANRA, a design studio renowned for its commitment to sustainable outerwear. Together, they are set to release the Salomon Skor, a sneaker that blends Salomon's outdoor expertise with RANRA's sustainable design ethos.
The RANRA x Salomon Skor features an inner shoe covered by a removable leather gaiter, easily removed with loops strategically placed on the upper and sole unit. Beneath the gaiter lies a sneaker crafted from recycled wide-spaced mesh, providing breathability and comfort. This base is reinforced with nylon and ripstop overlays, ensuring durability, while Salomon's Quicklace system offers convenience and a secure fit.
Branding for both brands is present across the design, with Salomon’s usual logos placed on the tongue and lateral collar, while RANRA is found on the medial side. Internally, the cork insole contains all the materials that make up the design. Innovation extends to the midsole, made from TPU-based Infiniride foam, designed for disassembly and recycling, underscoring the collaboration's commitment to sustainability. The design is completed with a lugged rubber outsole, ready to tackle any terrain.
The RANRA x Salomon Skor will release on February 27, 2024, through Salomon and RANRA online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $440. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
