Around April every year, we see footwear brands not only prep sneakers ready for Easter and the pastel shades of spring but also for every stoner's favorite holiday - 420. The April 20th celebration may not be an official holiday but its connection to marijuana has remained strong for decades and with weed becoming more accepted in the mainstream culture we see even more overt nods to the substance from big corporations. One footwear label that is preparing for the sesh is Reebok which, alongside a Beatnik and Twilight Zone, has crafted a “420” themed Reebok Classic Leather.
Hippy-friendly text for its “Reebok” branding on the lateral midfoot alongside the tongue tag’s overtly weed-themed graphic pairs well with the greens, browns, and greys seen throughout the canvas and corduroy design. Along the toebox, we see an earthy green hit with paisley print details taking over the mudguard and heel tab. For its midfoot underlay, the Classic Leather gets covered in a smoke graphic-laden canvas with the Reebok logo partaking in the smoke session. More nods to marijuana appear on the insole with the same hippy-like text and marijuana leaf landing on the left and right insoles respectively. Rounding out the look is the two-tone black and grey foam midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The Reebok Classic Leather 420 is set to release on April 1st, 2023 through Reebok and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
