The Reebok ES22, the signature silhouette of football legend Emmitt Smith, has not been seen since its initial retro release in 2012. A decade-plus after its previous drop, Reebok teased the release of the silhouette on Instagram. A day later, an OG colorway from the original 1997 run appeared on Reebok’s website — the Reebok ES22 "Club Blue.”
The Reebok ES22 "Club Blue" exudes a balanced contrast with its rich color palette. A black mesh foundation is prominently showcased through strategic cutouts across the midfoot, setting the stage for the sneaker's distinctive appearance. The front end is adorned with black leather, which harmoniously complements the radiant blue anodized leather panels on its sides. The white foam that rises from the base, artfully surrounding the Reebok Vector logo, is a defining touch. Further reinforcing the sneaker's identity is the number "22" – a nod to Smith's jersey – embedded within a glimmering heel tab. The black mesh theme continues onto the heel, sockliner, and tongue, creating a cohesive visual flow. The signature blue and white Hexalite-cushioned midsole is positioned beneath, perfectly juxtaposed with the contrasting black and white rubber outsole. It’s noteworthy that this pair, unlike the OG 1997 pair, forgoes the inclusion of a translucent rubber on the sole.
The Reebok ES22 Club Blue will release September 15, 2023, through Reebok and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
