The digital-first luxury label is not resting on its laurels just over two years since Nike's pivotal acquisition of RTFKT. Making headlines with its notable Air Force 1 Genesis and the cutting-edge Crypokicks IRL releases, RTFKT is set to take another leap. This time, they're merging their forward-thinking aesthetics with the timeless appeal of the Nike Dunk Low.
The unveiled prototype paints a vivid picture of what to expect, even as its final form remains under wraps. The iconic Nike Dunk Low shape remains largely intact, yet every contour has an unmistakable RTFKT touch. A standout feature is the enhanced Swoosh – it comes with an extra overlay, a hint at the avant-garde approach the label is renowned for. The one-piece upper construction is accentuated by hand-drawn lines, suggesting potential panel placements and highlighting the meticulous design phase. The midsole is where RTFKT's branding prowess shines. With the label's signature lightning bolt emblazoned near the toe and "Enhanced by RTFKT" inscribed near the heel, the DNA of this collaboration is crystal clear.
The RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis CRYPTOKICKS will be released via an NFT forging event which takes place between October 18 and October 30, 2023. In order to participate, you must own a RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis NFT or an RTFKT-MNLTH NFT. The former of the two NFTs are currently available to purchase on the secondary market with the cheapest option currently priced at 0.125 ETH (approx. $206) while the the RTFKT-MNLTH is priced at 0.3 ETH (approx. $494).
To forge your physical sneaker, you must pay $222 in ETH plus "a little extra for gas fees." There will be three colorways available for purchase and eligible buyers can purchase one physical pair of the "OG" colorway, and two of the "VOID" and "Clone X" rendition. Each sneaker purchased is made to order and will being shipping in June 2024. Unlike many NFTs that have utility, the digital collectible will NOT be burned when forged.
