Dating back to Nike's founding, the Bill Bowerman-designed Nike Cortez has remained one of The Swooshes staple silhouettes in their lineup over the course of their history. With both the silhouettes and Nike’s 50th Anniversary taking place this year, sacai has stepped in to rework and put their famous double-design on the Cortez. Early images have surfaced of the upcoming sacai x Nike Cortez in a new “Grey” colorway.
Coming dressed in a mixture of nylon and suede along the upper, the silhouette keeps it simple in shades of blue and grey. Wrapping around from toe to heel is a navy blue nylon, accented by grey suede eyestays that house a double set of grey laces. Staying in line with sacai’s design language, the tongue comes double stacked with co-branding present. Along the midfoot, more doubled motifs appear through the white leather Nike Swoosh and its sister Swoosh painted in black. The collar appears to be double stacked as well, with a blue mesh sitting above the grey leather interior. On the heel, multiple shades of grey suede overlays finish the upper. Rounding out the entire look is the stacked sole design coming in shades of grey, black, and tan with a visible Zoom Air bubble present on the forefoot.
The sacai x Nike Cortez Grey is set to release in December 2022 through sacai, Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
