Over at adidas, their choice of collaborators could not be any stronger, utilizing the likes of Pharrell Williams, Wales Bonner, Bad Bunny, and one of their latest, Sean Wotherspoon. Bringing his vintage, recycled aesthetic to plenty of adidas silhouettes since their partnership began, it seems that Sean wants to compete with the recently released Gucci x adidas Gazelle by releasing his own take on the almost 60-year-old model.
Through an Instagram post shared by Sean himself, early samples have begun to arrive for the Sean Wotherspoon x adidas Gazelle, taking on a white corduroy base with multi-color designs sprinkled throughout. These blobs take on shades that scream SW due to the rainbow-like palette chosen. Working up to the eyestays you'll find a navy suede housing a white set of flat laces, though it appears a two-tone white and blue option will be offered alongside this. Stitched atop the tongue is a maroon-colored adidas Gazelle tag.
The Three Stripes branding located on the midfoot borrows both the material and color of the eyestays, allowing it to shine through the multi-color and white corduroy surrounding it. For the sockliner, SW keeps things simple with an all-white mesh that gets paired with a cork insole featuring a graphic of his signature, a flower, and a peace symbol, though he stated in his post that he needs to “...add the velour sock liner…” Completing the looks is a midsole and outsole combo coming in a clear rubber allowing the design of the upper to stay visible throughout.
The Sean Wotherspoon x adidas Gazelle Indoor Corduroy will release May 27 through adidas Confirmed and select Three Stripes retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $140. To stay updated on the latest from SW and adidas, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
