One of the most iconic films in sneaker history, White Men Can't Jump paired the unlikely duo of Sidney Deane (Wesley Snipes) and Billy Hoyle (Woody Harrelson) together to win a streetball tournament. The two b-ball hustlers started as foes on the court, eventually putting their differences aside when they realized they could achieve greatness together. Through the character's ups and downs, we see both grow as they hone their craft. As this is a basketball movie, plenty of sneakers from the era can be seen on-and-off the court. Initially released in 1992, the film dropped during a bountiful era of basketball kicks from various brands, including adidas, Converse, L.A. Gear, Nike, and Reebok.
After the film reached classic cult status, Hollywood decided to bring the story back for the modern era. Similar to the original, the new iteration of White Men Can't Jump, starring Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls, illustrates the integral role sneakers play in both culture and basketball.
To celebrate the release of the new White Men Can't Jump, we look at some of the kicks you can see in the original 1992 film and the 2023 remake.
