After teaming up for an Air Max Penny 1 earlier this year, Social Status and Nike have reunited once again, but this time for an extremely special collaboration on the Nike Mac Attack. According to Complex's Brendan Dunne, John McEnroe's legendary tennis shoe will be brought back in its original form with the Social Status x Nike Mac Attack collab. A cult classic, the silhouette has never re-released before, so to say that we're beyond hyped is a pretty big understatement in itself.
First introduced almost 40 years ago back in 1984, Social Status' take on the Mac Attack (now known as the Attack) is set to be a one-to-one remake of the original pair. With a mesh and leather construction, the colorway is coming in the OG grey black black. It will feature the signature checkerboard tongue tag that we all know and love. Underfoot, you'll find a complementary midsole that gives the sneaker a vintage vibe, and to round it all off, a Nike Swoosh shoots across the sides, finishing the design.
On top of this OG colorway, we will also see three more, a "Pine Green Campfire Orange" a "Summit White Mystic Navy," and "Cobblestone Off Noir" with all three pairs featuring wear-away details to reveal a secondary shade below. On top of these details, the other three pairs in the collection also feature hits of Social Status branding on the heel tab once this portion is peeled away. Each of the three pairs features the same construction as OG, however, the wear-away panels on the collar, Swoosh, and heel come in canvas as opposed to leather.
The Social Status x Nike Mac Attack Collection is set to release in the Summer of 2023 via Social Status, Nike SNKRS, and select retailers both online and in-store. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $140. For more information on this drop as well as future colorways, follow us on Twitter right now and download our Mobile app!
