Sotheby’s is Auctioning the Nike Kobe 7 Worn by Kobe Bryant When He Scored His 30,000th Point
Published
Kobe Bryant’s illustrious NBA career is full of record-breaking moments. In December 2012, Bryant became the youngest player (at the time) to reach 30,000 career points, joining Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, and Michael Jordan as one of only five players to reach this milestone. During the game on December 5, Bryant laced up an exclusive colorway of the Nike Kobe 7, hitting his 30,000th point in the 2nd quarter. The game-worn and signed pair on the Black Mamba’s feet is heading to auction.
The sneaker, displaying signs of wear, comes in a grey, purple, and black colorway, with the upper primarily coated in grey hues. Purple and gold accents, a nod to his Los Angeles Lakers, are found on the lace set, with solid purple hues on the heel counter. The design has black details on the tongue and sockliner, white on the Kobe sheath logo atop the tongue, the Swoosh on the midfoot, and a white, black, and purple midsole and outsole. The right shoe's Swoosh features a signature from Kobe Bryant, while the left features an inscription "30K 12-5-12," also written by Kobe.
This game-worn and signed Nike Kobe 7 PE from Kobe Bryant’s historic 30,000th point game is currently up for auction via Sotheby’s, with bidding ending on March 25. The pair will also be displayed at Sotheby’s New York on March 21. The auction house estimates the lot will sell for between $200,000 and $300,000.
