While Nike’s RTFKT recently announced it would shut down, adidas is still going all-in on the NFT craze. Highlighting this will be the first physical sneaker drop with STEPN GO, the social-lifestyle web3 app that previously teamed up with adidas on the STEPN GO x adidas Genesis NFT Sneakers. This initial IRL offering will consist of 1,200 pairs of adidas Ultraboost 5s spread across four different colorways.
Shiti Manghani, CEO of STEPN by FSL, emphasized the significance of this moment: “The launch of physical shoes is a defining moment in our partnership with adidas. We’ve moved from digital collectibles to tangible products that people can wear, showing just how far the Web3 space has evolved. This collaboration demonstrates the potential of merging fitness, digital assets, and real-world products.”
Across four colorways, Aqua Blue, Grey, Pink, and Red, the STEPN GO x adidas Ultraboost 5 retain the typical construction and appearance of the model with some added branding features. The lightweight mesh upper and cushioned Lightboost sole unit remain intact, while STEPNGO branding is added to the sole unit.
The STEPN GO x adidas Ultraboost 5 will be available exclusively to holders of the STEPN GO and STEPN GO x adidas Genesis NFTs, with one of the four colorways randomly assigned to winners of a series of raffles running from December 13 to December 17. The four raffles are as follows: one open to holders of STEPN and STEPN GO x adidas Genesis NFTs, a contest on X (formerly Twitter), an ALTS by adidas Community raffle, and a STEPN Apps Community raffle
Winners can claim their sneakers between January 6 and January 22, 2025, after a three-week trading window for raffle tickets on the secondary market. For more updates on this release, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
