However, dive deeper into the brand’s history, and you'll remember that their collaborative DNA also intertwines with brands like New Balance and adidas. While it's been nearly a decade since The Whitaker Group (through Social Status) partnered with New Balance on the 1600 silhouette, it seems the stars have aligned once more — this time on the 9060.
As reported by PredixLabs on Twitter, two distinctive colorways of the New Balance 9060 crafted by The Whitaker Group are on the horizon. A meticulous blend of pastel shades, these sneakers remind us of the vibrant artistry of Joe Freshgood, especially the Mint colorway that resembles JFG's latest 993 ensembles. Craftsmanship shines through in the premium suede uppers juxtaposed against a wide-spaced mesh base. The iconic "N" logo proudly sits on the midfoot, and the shoe is elevated by its stacked sole. One variant flaunts a blue-hued multi-layered suede overlay contrasted with a pink mesh base, sitting atop a green-tinted foam midsole and a stark black outsole. Its counterpart comes in a mint and grey color scheme. The foam midsole adopts varying shades of grey, while a creamy palette graces the rubber outsole.
The Whitaker Group x New Balance 9060 Missing Pieces Collection will release September 28, 2023, through The Whitaker Group storefronts and possibly through New Balance and select retailers in-store and online.
