While all eyes are on Reebok for the brand’s reentry into the performance basketball world, the label will continue its collaborative efforts in the lifestyle realm. Last year, Reebok announced a partnership with visionary artist and creative force Tobe Nwigwe, teasing the Reebok by Chukwu collection. Now, the duo are officially kicking things off with a collection of apparel and a reimagining of the Reebok Preseason.
The collection's centerpiece is the Chukwu OTU, a reimagining of the Reebok Preseason, blending Nwigwe’s Nigerian heritage with his American identity. The name OTU, which means “One” in Igbo, is a tribute to unity, perseverance, and excellence. Nwigwe was drawn to the Preseason silhouette because of its simplistic yet timeless design, symbolizing hard work and dedication, values that resonate deeply with his journey. “I chose the Preseason to be my first shoe because it’s an immaculate silhouette—simple, yet iconic,” said Tobe. “The Preseason represents hard work and excellence, and it felt like the perfect shoe to launch my own journey.”

The sneaker's textile, hairy suede, and nubuck leather upper create curved overlays that add depth and movement to the once-performance silhouette. The color palette remains true to Nwigwe’s signature mint green and black, creating a collection that embodies his identity and style. “The OTU reflects my dual identity—being African American, first-generation American, and deeply connected to my Nigerian heritage. It’s more than a name; it’s the blending of cultures and values that shape who I am,” Nwigwe added.
Beyond the footwear, the collection features an expansive range of gender-neutral, game-inspired apparel that blends athletic aesthetics with contemporary fashion. Highlights include the Coaches Jacket, a padded outerwear piece with embroidered graphics and an oversized fit; the Football Jersey, featuring the number 88 in honor of Nwigwe’s wife and five children; a Graphic Hoodie crafted from heavyweight fleece with a double-layered hood and satin-stitched graphics, and the Sideline Jacket, designed with a sherpa-lined hood for added warmth and comfort. Completing the lineup are functional pieces like the Zip-Off Pant, which transforms from full-length to shorts, and the padded woven Vest, offering a layered look with custom embroidery.
"Every detail, every element, works together to create something that feels both intricate and effortless at the same time—a reflection of my design philosophy: Complex Simplicity," Nwigwe explained.
The Tobe Nwigwe x Reebok Chukwu Preseason OTU in Mint Green and Black will release on February 21, 2025, through Reebok and select retailers online and in-store.
