Foam clog silhouettes have been around for a while with the likes of Crocs starting the trend some 15-plus years ago. Though it wouldn’t be until the beginning of the 2020s for their popularity to explode thanks to the Yeezy Foam RNNR and the Salehe Bembury x Crocs Pollex Clog. We’ve seen Louis Vuitton tackle this trend, Converse and A-COLD-WALL, and now Saucony is joining in on the fun with their upcoming collaboration courtesy of Tombogo on what they’re titling “The Butterfly.”
Like many of the recently seen foam clogs, the silhouette takes on a two-piece construction utilizing an internal bootie and a foam exoskeleton. Internally, a mixture of grey neoprene and lightweight mesh gives the wearer a snug, secure, yet breathable fit, allowing for easy on and off with the two pull-tabs located on the heel and tongue. Surrounding this is a white foam that features organically shaped cutouts and perforations throughout, adding a hidden Saucony logo through the wavy line and three dots along the midfoot. The internal bootie and foam outer shell can both be worn individually, allowing for even more functionality. Underfoot, a grey foam midsole and outsole featuring Tombogo and Saucony co-branding near the heel matches the internal bootie, completing the look.
The TOMBOGO x Saucony The Butterfly saw a small release during Paris Fashion Week on June 21st with a wider release slated for August 2022 through tombogo.com, Saucony, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced. To stay updated on the latest in sneakers, streetwear, and more, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
