Nike is Letting You Trade Anything for a Pair of Galaxy Foams at The Galaxy Foamposite Trading Post Event

Later this week, Nike is bringing back one of the most iconic sneakers of all time—the Nike Air Foamposite Galaxy. When the pair first released as part of the Galaxy Pack for NBA All-Star 2012, they were extremely limited, and canceled releases due to riots and police shut-downs led to even fewer people securing the pair. Ahead of the pair’s first-ever retro, Nike is hosting a pop-up event where select customers can trade literally anything for a pair of Galaxy Foams.

The sneaker game in 2012 was much different than today, as there was no StockX or GOAT to go to if you missed out on a pair. Instead, you would have to scour through eBay or Craigslist hoping to find a pair in your size. One viral moment still talked about today is a man who posted that he was willing to trade his used car for a pair.

While the soaring value of used cars today and the downturn in the resale prices of sneakers would make this deal seem insane (although, at the end of the day, a car for a pair of shoes is wild), at the time, it was a fairly even trade in terms of value. The vehicle was valued at around $1,100 to $1,800, which was just about what people were buying and selling Galaxy Foams for at the time.

Obviously, Nike is leaning into this insane story that reached mainstream attention and is now forever in the lore of being a sneakerhead. The poster that appeared in NYC and has since made its way online states that you can “trade anything (well, almost) for a pair of the Nike Galaxy Foams. The wilder, the better—just keep it legal.” To try and trade whatever your heart desires for the Galaxy Foamposites, you have to sign up online, and once you open the online registration link.
