Get A Closer Look At The Transformers x Air Jordan 5 Retro
Transformers has got to be one of the most iconic media franchises of all time. Beginning back in 1984 as a toy line, the Hasbro-owned brand has since spawned comic books, video games, an animated series, and of course, the infamous Michael Bay-directed live action films which you either love to hate or hate to love. On top of that, it looks like at one point in history it was also the subject of a Jordan Brand collaboration, and we're now getting up close and personal with a previously unseen looksee sample of the Transformers x Air Jordan 5 Retro.
Outfitted in black ballistic nylon construction, the entire upper of the Air Jordan 5 is covered in a grid motif which gives the sneaker a futuristic vibe. Mesh paneling on the laterals and medials make these extremely breathable, while the oversized Jumpman tongue is coated in a 3M reflective finish. Behind the tongue you'll find co-branded detailing complete with the old school Transformers logo, and the heel is stitched with the number "84" which nods to the year that the franchise made its initial debut. This is then finished off with a pair of custom insoles which showcase an all-out mecha war, and the Autobot logo which is housed within the icy blue rubber outsole.
As you might have already guessed, this Transformers x Air Jordan 5 Retro is just a sample and will probably never see the light of day. Never say never though, right? With the latest Transformers film scheduled to release in June 2023, that would be a good time to launch these in men's sizes at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select online and in-store retailers.
