Before the Air Jordan 4 hype took off in the 2020s, one of Jordan Brand’s most prolific collaborators, Travis Scott, launched his take on the silhouette. His colorway was inspired by the now-defunct Houston Oilers, borrowing the team’s color scheme of blue, red, and black to create a pair that has become highly sought after. Alongside this pair available to the public, Scott created multiple friends-and-family colorways, including a mushroom brown pair and a purple rendition, which have appeared in the aftermarket and on the feet of celebrities over the last six years. Rumors have begun to hit the internet regarding Travis’ purple AJ4, hinting at a possible release in 2025.
Alan Wehbi, someone who is well-connected in the sneaker industry and goes by the handle @doitbigchicago, helped fuel this rumor with a post that showed a picture of the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 Purple Suede with the caption “2024 GR incoming” (later correcting it to say 2025). Behind the scenes, Sole Retriever spoke to a source who claimed that the pair coming out will be Travis’ AJ4, contradicting Alan’s post of a GR release.
Plans for Scott’s Jordan and Nike lines have slowed considerably, as multiple Travis Air Jordan 1 Low colorways have been canceled, including the Dark Pony Pink Oxford, the Sail Shy Pink, and the Black Olive rendition. On top of this, his new silhouettes with Jordan Brand (the Jumpman Jack) and Nike (the Zoom Field Jaxx) only have a few colors planned until Spring 2025, including the Field Jaxx Limelight, Baroque Brown, White Chocolate, and Leche Blue. Regarding the Jumpman Jack, we only know of the Muslin Bright Cactus and Dark Mocha Black colors. There are rumors of a new Travis Scott x fragment design x Air Jordan 1 Low.
The rumored Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 Retro Purple Suede is not 100% confirmed to be released, and if it does, it could very well be a GR colorway not connected to Travis. We’ll keep you posted on the Sole Retriever mobile app as more information becomes available.
