Union LA Showcases Friends-and-Family Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG UNC Royal

The Bay Area is about to become a mecca for all things basketball and sneakers as the NBA has chosen the region as the host for the 2025 All-Star Game. Over 30 different sneakers tied to the event and its festivities will be released in the coming days. Still, California locals Union LA have made the trek to San Fran to showcase their history with Jordan Brand before launching their new Air Jordan 1 collaboration. Placed alongside the Chicago Shadow combo is an unseen UNC Royal rendition.
Like the original Union LA x Air Jordan 1 project and the upcoming release, the pair combines two original colorways: the Jordan 1 Royal and the Jordan 1 UNC. The collar and top portion of the tongue are reserved for the Royal color, featuring a premium black suede underlay and royal blue tumbled leather with an oversized Air Jordan Wings logo for the collar overlay. Union LA’s UN/LA yellow tag and overstitching details in a contrasting orange hue here.
On the bottom half of the sneaker, Union applies the colorblocking from the UNC AJ 1, placing Carolina blue tumbled leather on the mudguard, eyestays, Swoosh, and heel overlay. White tumbled leather graces the toe and midfoot, while the tongue takes on a sail finish for most of its nylon construction. Contrasting this is a black portion at the top that hosts a white Nike Air-laden tongue tag and a yellow lace set. Finishing the design is the aged midsole and a UNC-shaded rubber outsole.
The Union LA x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG UNC Royal will likely remain a friends-and-family colorway, or it could be an ultra-exclusive release that only Union LA will drop when the brand’s upcoming Chicago Shadow AJ 1 hits shelves.
