Union Los Angeles, a beacon in high-end streetwear and sneaker collaborations, is stepping into Spring 2024 with an exciting venture alongside Clarks Originals. Known for its iconic collaborations with Jordan and Nike that have captivated the sneaker community, Union LA, under the leadership of Chris Gibbs, broadens its horizons with a fresh take on the Clarks Originals Wallabee. The collaboration introduces two colorways: Covert Green and Cameo Rose, each forming part of this new Crazy Visions Wallabee remix. Inspired by the lyrics of Glaciers of Ice by Ghostface Killah, this name nods to the rapper's role in elevating the Wallabee within hip-hop culture.
This collaborative effort reinvents the Clarks' Wallabee silhouette by blending traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. Enhancements include an expanded outer sole width for improved stability, a leather welt for a seamless transition between the upper and the outsole, and the integration of 1980s running shoe-inspired mesh material. This fusion of suede, leather, and mesh materials balances classic and contemporary design aesthetics.
The collection's color palette draws inspiration from the vibrant mood of the West Indies, reflecting one of Union's foundational influences. The Cameo Rose colorway pays homage to Cam'ron, the New York rapper and cultural icon known for his impactful style and influence within the music and fashion industries. Inspired by military tones, the Cameo Rose and Covert Green colorways offer a bold yet understated look, complete with Union's signature multicolored laces to suit diverse styling preferences.
The Union LA x Clarks Originals Wallabee Collection will release on March 7, 2024, exclusively through Union online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
