Union LA has been a significant partner for Nike and Jordan Brand, particularly in the last half-decade. Just as we approach the global launch of Union LA’s Summer of 96 Collection, including the Woven Air Jordan 1 High and Jordan 1 Elevate High, according to industry insider Brendan Dunne of Complex, Summer 2024 will feature two colorways of the Union LA x Nike Field General 82.
This sneaker isn't the only retro football silhouette Nike is reviving, as fashion label Bode will be helping bring back the Nike Astro Grabber.
The Field General 82 was Nike's venture into football territory during the 80s, marking a significant footprint in Nike's rich history even though the model was never notable. Nike plans to release the model's inline colorways alongside this Union collaboration.
Union's take on the sneaker sees a rework of the model similar to their Cortez collaboration with multiple layers and non-standard construction. On the base sits a woven textile hue in red, while the overlays come in a tan shade. Union LA's famous UN/LA yellow tag is added to the eyestay, while Nike branding is seen on the midfoot Swoosh and a Swoosh debossed into the heel. Rounding out the design is a brown sole unit with Nike and Union branding on the heel paired with a rubber outsole containing a waffle traction pattern.
The Union x Nike Field General 82 Pack was scheduled to release on June 27, 2024, through Union LA. However, technical issues have caused the drop to be delayed a day. A Nike SNKRS pass will take place on June 26, with the Ivory colorway releasing via the app on July 10. Union also stated the Black pair will be exclusive to Union, with another SNKRS Pass taking place on July 8. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
