Australian sneaker boutique Up There has proven its worth in the collaborative footwear world, with hit after hit coming from down under. Asics has stood out of their collaborative partners, with the duo previously working on the Gel-Lyte III and GT-II silhouettes. The new Gel-Terrain model is getting the Up There treatment, a silhouette introduced earlier this year in inline colorways and a collaboration with Kiko Kostadinov.
Up There’s take on the Asics Gel-Terrain is a testament to both brands' dedication to quality and functionality, blending aesthetic appeal with technical prowess. The sneaker features a dynamic mix of materials, including TPU fused overlays and a breathable mesh base, set against a captivating color scheme of pinkish-burgundy with vibrant green accents. A standout feature is the inclusion of a volt-colored carabiner on the lace set, symbolizing the fusion of outdoor utility with urban style. Co-branding is thoughtfully applied throughout, with Up There's signature evident on a nylon strap, adding a unique touch to the collaboration.
Up There applies a venation pattern on the base layer that resembles the arrangement of veins in leaves. As for the color palette, the mauve hues resemble the dried-up leaves found in the bush, specifically, eucalyptus leaves. Other outdoor-inspired features include the heel pull-tab, which can be used with the carabiner to hang the sneaker on a backpack. Underfoot sits a pink FlyteFoam and Gel-cushioned midsole paired with a burgundy rubber outsole.
The Up There x Asics Gel-Terrain will release on June 22, 2024, through Up There while a wider global release through Asics will follow on July 6. Available in men’s sizing, the pricing is set at $180. Keep an eye on the Sole Retriever mobile app for the latest updates on this release, as well as other exciting sneaker news, raffles, and more.
