The Vans Old Skool 36 FM Launches April 2025 Through OTW by Vans

The Vans Old Skool 36 has been a staple in Vans’ release lineup and the wardrobe of millions worldwide. The California-based label continues to update and remix its classic models, as with the Old Skool 36 FM. Debuting as the first release in the OTW by Vans “Future Make” series, the sneaker draws deeply from Vans' heritage while embracing futuristic construction and cultural expression.
Developed by designer Willo Perron and sound artist Tim Hecker, the project visually interpreted sound frequencies, the conceptual foundation for the Old Skool 36 FM’s design evolution. A lofted engineered knit base layer and tongue breathe new life into the classic silhouette, while a molded rubber toe cap and heel reinforce its durability.

Vans’ iconic waffle outsole has been reimagined through patterns derived from sound frequencies, tying back to the audio-inspired theme of the FM. A componentized cupsole construction provides structure, with comfort delivered through Vans' Sola Foam ADC insole and EVA Strobel board. A 3D-injected TPU Sidestripe enhances the shoe’s visual profile, offering a sculptural twist on one of Vans' most recognizable design cues.
The Vans Old Skool 36 FM will release on April 11, 2025, through Vans OTW online. The retail price is set at $125 in men's sizing. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
