Collaborators can come from across the globe, though it's special when a brand can find a local partner. For Asics, there are plenty of fellow Japanese collaborators to choose from, with the latest being the soccer (or football if you’re from outside the US) team Vissel Kobe, which is getting its own Gel-1130 colorway.
Playing in Japan’s highest level of association football, Vissel Kobe won last year’s J1 Championship by landing atop the table, marking a first for the club. As of this writing, they’re one point behind Sanfrecce Hiroshima for the top of the table in the 2024 season. The club's pair of Gel-1130s comes in the red, white, and black color scheme of the team’s home kit, with red shades landing on the mesh base, leather overlays, and suede panels. Black accents line the white Tiger stripes on the midfoot and take over a panel running from the heel toward the lower eyelets.
A tag for the city of Kobe is attached near the lateral heel, while an overt nod to the club is found via the Vissel logo atop the tongue and on the left sneaker’s insole. More branding for the club is located on the vamp with the V logo debossed in black. On the medial side, the Tiger stripes get a black makeover with red trim, playing off the gradient black and red of the home kit. The white Gel-1130 midsole with red accents landing on the heel and a black and red outsole are rounding out the look.
As of this writing, there is no confirmed release information for the Vissel Kobe x Asics Gel-1130. Expect the pair to drop before the end of 2024 through Asics and select retailers online and in-store, possibly exclusive to Japan.
