Westside Gunn Shows His Saucony ProGrid Triumph 4 Glow-In-The-Dark Sample
PublishedOne of the biggest surprises in the sneaker industry has been the rise of Saucony, largely thanks to techy mesh runners becoming all the rage in fashion and streetwear circles and Jae Tips’ multiple collaborative projects. Now that the culture views the brand as “cool,” we’re beginning to see more partners join the heritage-running company, the latest being Griselda rapper Westside Gunn. Following his announcement and teaser images from October, Westside Gunn showcased his vibrant volt-colored samples (the same pair Sole Retriever spotted him wearing at ComplexCon) and its glow-in-the-dark features.
The Griselda rapper’s take on the once-performance runner aligns with the CAD renderings in his Instagram post teasing this new project, as we see a vibrant volt green mesh on the base layer. Pops of yellow land along the mudguard and forefoot overlays and on the lace set, the latter resting above the black mesh tongue. Orange details line the eyestays and run back along the collar to meet the tail end of the burnt orange Saucony logo.
More logos for Saucony are found on the tongue tag, with the Pennsylvania-based company displaying its name in orange atop the volt woven tongue label. While this pair shines through in normal lighting conditions, Westside Gunn adds a hidden glow-in-the-dark finish to the volt panels. Finishing the design is the white and orange foam midsole.
This early sample for Westside Gunn’s upcoming Saucony collab showcases the direction the hip-hop artist is heading in with his first sneaker release, following in the footsteps of Jae Tips’ vibrant Saucony releases.
