After being teased for over a year, the first release of Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton Nike Air Force 1's is finally here. Sotheby's will be holding an auction for 200 pairs of the specially packaged LV Air Force 1 on January 26th through February 8th.
Classic brown LV monogrammed leather wraps the sneaker's upper, accented by beige Damier Azur printed calf leather on the toe box, Nike Check, and heel tab. A crisp white foam midsole dons OFF-WHITE inspired Air quotations in brown in conjunction with the traditional Air branding. Brown carries over to the sneaker's stars outsole. Co-branding is omnipresent with the Louis Vuitton x Nike tongue tag that sits atop the brown LV monogrammed tongue. Nods to Virgil's OFF-WHITE brand come in the form of "LACET" printed on the sail colored laces and gold "Louis Vuitton for Nike" inscribed on the sneaker's inner panel. Capping things off, the sneakers come housed in a special orange leather LV monogrammed Pilot Case, outfitted with a Nike Swoosh luggage tag.
Bidding for the 200 Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 will open at $2,000 on January 26th, 2021, with no reserve price. All proceeds from the auction will go to The Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, which in partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund, supports the education of academically promising students of Black, African American, or African descent.
