After taking on classics like the Gazelle and Superstar earlier this season, Yohji Yamamoto now has his sights set on one of adidas' newer silhouettes with the upcoming Y-3 x adidas Ultra Boost Light "Black White." Putting his own spin on the German sportswear company's ever-popular running model, if for whatever reason you don't have a Y-3 shoe in your daily rotation, perhaps this one will change your mind.
As stealthy as it gets, Yamamoto's rendition of the Ultra Boost Light boasts a Primeknit upper that has been infused with ocean plastic for a more environmentally-friendly look and feel. Contrast Three Stripe branding adorns the laterals in cloud white, and these slowly but surely dissolve away as you move down the shoe. Around the back, you'll find a co-branded tag complete with the godfather of Japanese fashion's signature, and this is elevated with loose thread detailing that has become a signature Y-3 design feature. Shifting your focus underfoot, the Boost midsole has been fully blacked out and is now chunkier than ever, offering unrivaled levels of comfort whether you're on a run or on the runway.
The Y-3 x adidas Ultra Boost Light Black White is set to release sometime in 2023 in men's sizes at adidas, Y-3, and select retailers globally. Expect a premium retail price of $330, and make sure you keep it locked on Sole Retriever's Twitter and Mobile App for your best chance to cop.
