For New Balance, their timely collaborations have rightfully earned the brand a favorable reputation in the sneaker world with the Boston-based retailer often looking to select retailers in the US to tell stories through their silhouettes. We saw this regularly in 2022 as DTLR brought “Miami” and “Masquerade” to life through two different releases while DMV-based retailer YCMC was given the opportunity to work on the 990v3 and elevated the silhouette with premium materials mixed in with grey hues. Now tackling the same silhouette in 2023, latest the YCMC x New Balance 990v3 comes inspired by trailblazing paths.
Covered in a color palette that truly contradicts itself at times, the sneaker takes on premium suedes across its overlays on the toebox, midfoot, and heel while mesh acts as the base layer for breathable wear. On these two portions, mossy green shades appear while the infamous toebox overlays from the 99X series and the collars overlay come in an olive finish. Cream laces provide a nice contrast, however, the waffle tongue, New Balance branding, and the TPU eyestays take on a purple and orange finish respectively. This shade of purple also finds a home on the heel while the entire design is rounded out by a two-tone cream and aqua blue midsole paired with a multi-color rubber outsole.
The YCMC x New Balance 990v3 Trailblazer is set to release on February 2nd, 2023 exclusively through YCMC online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $195.
