Starting his pro career at the young age of 18, Zion Wright has become one of skateboarding's up-and-coming stars as the now-24-year-old has competed for the USA Skateboarding National Team and landed sponsorships from big brands like Spitfire, Red Bull, and Vans to name a few. For the latter of his three sponsors, Wright has been a part of the skate team since 2021 and is now ready to bring his style to one of Vans’ latest footwear offerings - the Vans Zahba.
Like many footwear brands as of late, Vans’ Zahba silhouette features responsibly sourced renewable and recycled materials that construct at least 30% of the product while at the same time being a protective and comfortable sneaker for skating. For Wright’s take on the silhouette, we see tonal shades of brown take over the suede overlays across the upper while black hits land on the midfoot, tongue, and Vans jazz stripe. Other branding details include a white Vans logo atop the tongue, a checkerboard patch near the heel, and the pull tab featuring the Roman numerals “V VI I” which references the area code (561) of Zion’s hometown of Jupiter, Florida. Another nod to his hometown comes on the insole with the famed Jupiter Lighthouse featured on the planetary graphic. Underfoot sits a black midsole with speckle paint details throughout while the medial side houses a large white portion near the midfoot. Rounding out the design is the gum rubber outsole that utilizes SickStick rubber, making the outsole more durable and grippy.
The Zion Wright x Vans Zahba is set to release on March 16th, 2023 through Vans and select Vans retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the pair will retail for $100.
