Since signing with Jordan Brand in 2019, Rui Hachimura has been blessed with multiple PE colorways of Air Jordan models, including the Air Jordan 8, two Air Jordan 36s, an Air Jordan 37, and an Air Jordan 38. Alongside these pairs that hit shelves, Jordan Brand also gave Hachimura and other Jordan Brand athletes like Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic a Jordan Retro to rock in off the court, Hachimura’s being the Air Jordan 1 Low Retro OG Crane from 2022. After three years, Jordan Brand revisits the theme and gives Hachimura another pair that the public will have a shot at.
According to Kelsey Amy, a former designer at Jordan Brand who worked on an array of PE colorways for athletes, she designed this pair in 2023 as a follow-up for Rui, but it “never saw the street.” Fortunately, Jordan Brand saw it fit to go to retail, as we’ll get the pair in early 2025. For its design, we see essentially the same details and added features from the black PE colorway, including its material makeup and graphic pattern.

Along the toebox and tongue, we see an oatmeal-shaded premium suede, matching the lace set and woven tongue label above. The star of the shoe is the traditional Japanese floral pattern that integrates cranes and Japanese flowers, seen in a neutral color. Stark black hits land on the suede Swoosh and heel tab, the Swoosh outlined with a metallic gold finish.
On the heel, the Jordan Wings logo comes in an aqua-green finish, matching the insole that hosts Rui’s custom Japanese-inspired logo. The sail midsole finishes the look with gold contrast stitching and a gum outsole.
The Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and possibly via select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $160.
