The news of Luka Doncic getting traded to the Lakers shook the sports world and the internet to its core. While people are still speculating how the Mavericks could let go of the young superstar for an aging veteran like Anthony Davis, Doncic is beginning to settle into his new home of LA. As part of his onboarding to the Lakers, he had to take new photos in his new uniform, wearing a pair of his signature sneakers with Jordan Brand, the Jordan Luka 3, in the upcoming Purple Comet colorway.
Across the upper, we see a mixture of purple comet and hot punch, with the former of the two shades setting the foundation on the textile overlay containing wavy striations. These free-flowing raised panels represent the movement seen by high-performance sports cars, a major design inspiration for the Luka 3 silhouette and many of its colors. Embedded into this textile ovary is a linear pattern of hot punch, primarily seen on the upper medial side.
More of this vibrant shade finds a home on the branding details atop the tongue, the left shoe containing Jumpman branding and the right featuring Luka’s logo, and on the medial side with Luka’s number 77 embroidered into the midfoot. Contrasting the purple and pink hits is midnight navy, featured on the lace set, tongue, nubuck collar, and heel, and the mesh portions on the sockliner and medial toe. Finishing the sneaker is the Isoplate midfoot shank that combines with the Cushlon 3.0 midsole for a comfortable and stable feel on the court.
The Jordan Luka 3 Purple Comet will release on February 18, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $130.
