Initially released in 1999 as a performance-running silhouette and quickly shelved after poor market reception, the New Balance 1000 found new life when the brand revived it in early 2024. Since its collaborations with Aime Leon Dore and Joe Freshgoods, the 1000 has become integral to the brand’s release calendar, appearing in GR colorways and new collaborative makeups like the upcoming release from Concepts. Joining the recently previewed Dragon Berry colorway is a Team Royal rendition.
Like the aforementioned Dragon Berry New Balance 1000, this Team Royal pair comes with black accents clashing against the vibrant colors found on the leather overlays. These panels coated in the titular team royal hue, including the mudguard, top and bottom midfoot overlays, heel, and tongue overlay, are all surrounded by black shades, as seen by the mesh base, lace set, and sockliner.

New Balance branding swaps between the shades, with the N logo in metallic silver and outlined in white, the 1000 text on the heel in white, and the New Balance 1000 text on the tongue and heel in royal and white, respectively. Down below, the sneaker is completed with a dark grey Abzorb-cushioned foam midsole paired with a tonal black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1000 Team Royal will release in 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $150.
