New Balance has been a household name in the sneaker world for years, though it wasn’t until recently that the Boston-based brand became popular with sneakerheads. Models like the New Balance 550 and 2002R (alongside hit collaborations) have brought new life to the label. Capitalizing on this new found attention, New Balance created the 9060, a lifestyle silhouette inspired by Y2K-era runners and the illustrious 99X series. Recently spotted in a clean “Washed Blue” colorway, a new shade of blue is taking over the model with the “Arctic Grey Steel.”
Featuring tonal blues accented by silver, white, and grey throughout the design, the silhouette takes on a mixture of mesh, TPU, leather, and suede. Light blue textured suede appears worn-down, takes over around the toe, and runs back to meet the silver "N" logo on the midfoot. Overlays on the toebox, collar, and heel come in a silver finish, with the tongue and lace set in navy blue, grey, and white. Red and blue hits are found on the "NB 9060" logo atop the tongue, while the heel tab's "NB" embroidery comes in navy. Underfoot sits a two-tone white and grey midsole with chunky light blue pods on the forefoot and heel. Rounding out the design is the worn-in blue rubber outsole.
The New Balance 9060 Arctic Grey Steel is set to release in 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
