With another successful year in the books for New Balance and a record-breaking $7.8 billion in sales, the Boston-based footwear brand is looking for another breakout year. 2024 was full of revivals or archival sneakers that have turned into hits, a la the New Balance 1000, 475, 740, and overseas with the 509 model. It seems that for 2025, the label wants to focus on brand-new silhouettes, as we’ve seen previews of pairs like the 471, 2000, and, most recently, the 2010. Now, after images of the Brown colorway emerged, a Black Ice rendition of the New Balance 2010 has emerged.
Not too far off from the color palette employed on Joe Freshgoods’ take on the New Balance 1000 last year, the silhouette’s “premium classic” aesthetic is achieved through familiar paneling and classic NB motifs. On the base sits a wide-spaced mesh that comes in a dark grey finish, contrasting the black ice hits of the synthetic leather overlays near the toe, midfoot, and collar. This same shade is applied to the inside lining of the N logo and the NB logo atop the tongue.

Suede panels wrap around the toe, portions of the midfoot, the eyestays, and the heel, taking on a similar dark grey finish to match the base layer. Helping complete the design is the tonal foam midsole, which features ABZORB cushioning in a black ice finish on the heel and the rubber outsole in a tonal black look.
The New Balance 2010 Black Ice will release in 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
