When Sergio Lozano, the designer behind the Nike Air Max 95, was sketching the sneaker, he made a reverse/inverted version of the OG Neon colorway that never made it past the drawing board, that is, until now. Last night at the MoMA in NYC, Nike quietly released this sample sketch version of the Air Max 95.

With 2025 marking the sneaker's 30th birthday, The Swoosh has been going all out. Last week, the OG Neon was released at select retailers and will be available on SNKRS later this month. Alongside the original colorway, fan favorites like the Pink Foam are returning, and OG colorways like the Black Border from 1996 are getting a retro treatment for the first time in decades. We’re also expecting collaborative efforts throughout the rest of the year, including a Yu-Gi-Oh collection, another colorway from A Ma Maniere, and even a Nike SB version of the sneaker.

As for this Reverse Neon rendition, Lozano’s original sketch is brought to life in a 1:1 fashion, flipping the dark to light gradient that defined the Air Max 95. Darker hues take over the tongue and mesh netting, while we see the same neon green hues on the nylon lace loops, Swoosh on the collar, and Air units on the sole. Premium hairy suede works into a white hue, starting with an anthracite grey on the top and finishing in a solid white once you hit the midsole. Finishing the sneaker is the black and neon green outsole.

The Nike Air Max 95 Reverse Neon was released last night, April 8, 2025, at the MoMA in NYC and then released on the museum's website on the morning of April 9. Brendan Dunne of Complex reports that there are only around 1,500 pairs available, with one more chance to cop on April 10 via a Nike SNKRS Pass.
