Food and sneakers go hand in hand, especially at Nike. For years we’ve been given colorways inspired by strawberries, waffles, bacon and even chocolate milk. The Swoosh now has a Dunk Low “Avocado” grown from love on the horizon.
Taking direct inspiration from the ever-popular fruit, a dark green leather resembling the skin of an avocado overtakes the upper. Piped alongside the overlays, a lighter green provides some contrast. As you work back towards the heel, the sock liner and heel underlay are composed of the fleshy toned green of an avocado, almost as if you cut into the fruit itself.
Not only is the color palette inspired by an avocado, but the branding and details appear as if you’re shopping at the grocery store. A small sticker is placed on the side of the forefoot overlay and insole, mimicking what you would find in a produce aisle. Alongside this, the back of the Nike branded tongue tag reads nutritional facts about the humble fruit. All of this is matched to a white midsole atop a dark green rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low Avocado W is set to release in August 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizes, retail is set at $120.
