Ja Morant and the Grizzlies are in the midst of a coaching change, and a fight for a playoff position as the organization just fired Taylor Jenkins, and the team sits at number 7 in the Western Conference. Morant continues pushing forward with new releases from his signature sneaker line with Nike, the Nike Ja 2. Honoring his alma mater, Morant and Nike have cooked up a new Murray State-inspired colorway.
This isn’t the first time Ja’s sneakers have paid homage to Murray State. The Nike Ja 1 launched in the school’s colors, and the Ja 2 was released in a colorway made for Morant when he was inducted into the school’s hall of fame. This pair is primarily white, with navy blue hues gracing the chenille-covered Swoosh. Outlining this logo is yellow textile, which gives the Swoosh a varsity jacket-esque vibe.

More pops of color emerge on the tongue tag, which splits the Ja logo between yellow and blue on the right and left shoe, respectively. Navy also finds a home on the sockliner and tongue lining, while the 12:AM text on the heel opts for a tonal finish. The gradient midsole finishes the sneaker, starting in a deep yellow near the toe and ending in a white shade on the heel and a tonal outsole.
The Nike Ja 2 Murray State will release on April 18, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $140.
