Kobe Bryant's impact extends well past the world of the NBA, as he has inspired millions, from professional athletes to ordinary people. However, Bryant had a special place in his heart for the WNBA. He was a vocal supporter of the league and played a pivotal role in developing many WNBA stars behind the scenes before his passing in January 2020. Nike has created a special WNBA colorway of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro to honor the league and Bryant's love of the WNBA.
Kobe’s sixth signature sneaker undergoes an orange transformation, the league’s primary shade that has also been used on other tributes like the Jordan 12 Brilliant Orange and the Air Jordan 3 TEX WNBA Camo. The silhouette’s faux reptile skin upper follows the orange color palette found on the tongue, base layer, TPU heel overlay, and sockliner, contrasted by the metallic silver Swoosh and Kobe sheath logo atop the tongue. Another hit of silver comes back on the heel with Kobe Bryant’s signature visible atop the clear plastic TPU.

Moving inside, the Kobe sheath logo on the insole also takes on a metallic silver finish. While you might have expected to see a WNBA logo or some reference to the league on the sneaker, the pair is devoid of any direct nod to the WNBA, instead using the orange color palette as its homage. The orange foam midsole finishes the sneaker with a clear translucent rubber outsole.
The Nike Kobe 6 Protro WNBA will release in September 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s and GS sizing, the retail price is $180 and $120, respectively.
