Jackie Robinson’s influence expanded well past the baseball field as he championed civil rights for decades after breaking the MLB’s color barrier. Today, number 42 is remembered every April 15th by the MLB as, on Jackie Robinson Day, the entire league wears his jersey number in-game. On top of the MLB’s celebration, Nike also plays a part in remembering Robinson, this year doing so with a collection of jerseys, a Griffey 2 MCS cleat, and a Nike Cortez colorway.
The Nike Cortez TXT Jackie Robinson Day edition features a mixture of nylon, suede, and leather; the silhouette is primarily coated in photon dust, including the base nylon and suede overlays on the toe, eyelets, and heel. Black leather takes over the Swoosh on the midfoot, which is outlined in a metallic silver that makes it stand out even further. As you move back, you’ll spot baseball stitching on the black leather heel tab, which splits 42 between the left and right pairs.

Jackie’s jersey number is also in metallic silver atop the tongue tag. Inside, a custom graphic adorns the insole, featuring Robinson’s number 42 in the style of each of the 30 MLB teams—the same one used on the accompanying Griffey 2 cleat. The sneaker's white and black midsole paired with a white outsole completes the look.
The Nike Cortez TXT Jackie Robinson Day will release on Jackie Robinson Day, April 15, 2025, through Nike SNKRS. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $100.
