Sporty & Rich x Adidas Release Dates

Sporty & Rich was founded in 2015 by Emily Oberg, a Canadian-born entrepreneur who relocated to New York to work as an editorial producer at Complex Magazine. Oberg, who is half-Filipino, later became the creative lead of womenswear at Kith. During her tenure at Complex and Kith, Oberg began developing the identity of Sporty & Rich, initially as an Instagram mood board featuring her favorite things. The Instagram page quickly gained popularity, boasting almost 500,000 followers. The brand's aesthetic, which evokes the imagination of the American girl next door, combined with a healthy lifestyle, resonated with many. In May 2016, Sporty & Rich published its first physical magazine, which featured the same images that were popular on its Instagram page.

Sporty & Rich is described as "vintage sportswear tied with luxury." The brand's visual identity is heavily influenced by the 80s and 90s luxury sportswear, with inspirations from figures like Lady Diana in sports outfits. The collaboration between Sporty & Rich and Adidas began in November 2022 with the release of the Adidas Samba OG "White/Green." This debut collaboration was a perfect synergy between the two brands, combining Sporty & Rich's vintage-leaning aesthetic with Adidas's classic tennis shoe look. Following the success of the initial collaboration, Sporty & Rich and Adidas released several more projects. In May 2023, they launched a collection featuring three different Samba colorways, including the "White/Black," "Blue/Grey," and "Cream/Blue" styles. These collaborations have been highly coveted, with some styles fetching upwards of $700 in resale markets.

The fourth collaboration between Sporty & Rich and Adidas was announced in early 2024, featuring a trio of Handball Spezial colorways. This collection focused solely on footwear, elevating the classic patio shoe with a fresh yet timeless approach. Each pair in the collection features a premium suede upper complemented by leather stripes and a leather heel moustache, with gold foil 'Sporty & Rich' branding adding a touch of luxury.
