The rebellious Korean streetwear brand 99%is is joining forces with adidas for their first-ever collaboration. 99%is has established a distinct presence in the fashion industry, thanks to its rebellious design philosophy and punk-inspired aesthetic. Now, the Bajowoo-led label is translating this audacious style onto the canvas of the adidas NMD_S1.
The collaborative 99%is x adidas NMD_S1 blends edgy design with functional comfort. The upper is draped in a full black Primeknit, contrasted with a transparent TPU layer on the midfoot. Three Stripe branding appears in a black semi-translucent finish over the TPU, subtly standing against the layered design. Further adding to the aesthetic, blue thread detailing is incorporated into the heel, and a punk-inspired black-and-white graphic graces the insole. The sneaker’s comfort aspect is taken care of by the NMD_S1's signature Boost-cushioned midsole. Additional design accents include TPU plugs near the heel and forefoot, and 99%is branding in Korean. A black outsole featuring the Trefoil logo rounds out the striking design.
The 99%is x adidas NMD_S1 will release August 9, 2023 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store in Asia, though it is unclear if this will be an overseas exclusive. Pricing and sizing information has yet to be announced.
