An animation powerhouse, The Simpsons has not just left its mark on television but has extended its influence to streetwear through collaborations. Having partnered with adidas in the past, this iconic duo has created designs that fuse pop culture elements with sneaker craftsmanship. With several models already donning Simpsons-inspired touches this year, the newest silhouette to join the ranks is the NMD_G1. Renowned for its blend of futuristic design and comfort, the NMD_G1 now receives a playful makeover that celebrates the character we've come to love over the decades – Homer Simpson.
A closer examination of The Simpsons x adidas NMD_G1 reveals a palette inspired by Homer himself. Unlike Homer’s recent appearance on the Stan Smith, this sneaker primarily flaunts a shade reminiscent of Homer's skin tone, accompanied by touches of blue and tan. A whimsical touch is added with an illustration of a curious Homer peeking out on the lateral side, while the medial side portrays his hand clutching a remote. Not stopping there, the tongue of the shoe becomes a canvas for two of Homer's most iconic catchphrases: "D'oh!" and "Woo Hoo!" encapsulated within text bubbles. The design is rounded off with a dual-branded insole showcasing The Simpsons and adidas logos, placed above the comfortable Boost sole unit. Joining forces with the upcoming Forum Low and adiFOM Superstar, this NMD_G1 is part of a bigger Simpsons x adidas collection, where each design seems to draw inspiration from the series' memorable intro sequence.
The Simpsons x adidas NMD_G1 Homer Simpson will release in November 2023 via adidas and select retailers both online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
